Susie StephensSusie & Tilly

On Thursday, March 21, 2002, our Development Director Susie Stephens was struck and killed by a bus in St. Louis, Missouri. She was helping direct a two-day conference on innovative approaches to transportation sponsored by the
U. S. Forest Service.

At the Methow Conservancy Susie was the one who wrote all our newsletters, brochures and articles in the local newspaper. She's the one who talked to members, wrote thank you letters and made personal phone calls to say thanks. Susie put on our annual membership party bringing the Paperboys to the Methow. She was a happy, positive force in this office.

Susie was a passionate advocate of bicycles for transportation, travel and recreation. She was also a passionate advocate for bicycle and pedestrian safety.
