July 14th: Methow Conservancy Stream Ecology & Aquatic Macroinvertebrates Field Class with Tim Hall and Rick Haley
9:00am - 4:00pm
- Free, donations appreciated

Do you fully appreciate the way our streams and rivers function? Most of us don't and that's why instructors Tim Hall and Rick Haley are offering a day of education and exploration. We'll start the day off with an indoor orientation to river and stream ecology. Then, we'll go outside with sampling equipment and macroinvertebrate nets and spend some time on the Methow River that as well as a nearby tributary stream to illustrate differences between the two. We'll take water quality measurements and learn what they tell us. We'll learn how scientists characterize stream habitat, and we'll talk about how what's in the water, such as algae, insects, nutrients and fish, play ecological roles. Finish the day with an integrated appreciation for the workings of a Methow river and stream!

The class is free but registration is requested because it is limited to 12 people. Contact the Methow Conservancy at 996-2870 or mary@methowconservancy.org to register or ask questions.
