How can you help?

There are many ways to get involved with restoration activities throughout the Methow Valley as a homeowner or as a visitor. These opportunities include:

  • Keeping riparian areas on your property intact
  • Planting willow bundles along an eroding streambank
  • Choosing to landscape with native plants
  • Keeping forested property healthy through thinning of small diameter trees
  • Leaving snags (dead trees) on your property standing. They provide great wildlife habitat.
  • Enhancing backyard wildlife habitat
  • Installing proper drainage on new roads
  • Keeping roads and culverts in working condition
  • Hunting and fishing responsibly
  • Educating others about the benefits of restoration
  • Conserving water
  • Conserving electricity
The Good Neighbor Handbook produced by The Methow Conservancy is a great reference source for information on how to live responsibly and sustainably in the Methow Valley. Contact The Methow Conservancy (www.methowconservancy.org) for more information.
